Sydney "Mad Hatter" Spring Picnic, Saturday 9th October

We started walking towards the unfamiliar woods, strangely serene and quiet despite the sighting of family picnickers, dog walkers, joggers, cyclists and horseriders.  Tick! Tick!

Was that a floppy eared bunny running off into the bushes? No, it was only a 6 foot Ninja looking for his trousers.  Tick! Tock!

What strange Wonderland had we walked into?

The Woods were eerily overcast as if strong emotions were about to break out overhead, yet there were picnic blankets on the grass.  There was a carnivale of colourful creatures escaped from a Cirque du Soleil and food! Such food that was dreamed of only in fantasies of a technicolour Candyland! Edible Cookie Monsters, flowers whose heads were eaten whole as the Red Queen had commanded, and pork - roast pork belly with crackling that  roared like thunder from the mountain tops! Oh believe me gentle souls, tarts WERE stolen that day.

Mythical creatures roamed the meadows bestowing blessings upon the peasantry, the rare and precious Nuffnang, the legendary Twin Alices, the Candied Karen, the Suze of Chocolate, the Two Tabled Billy and the Grabbing Fork walking like a goddess generously strewing bacon in her wake!

Arise oh noble Unmeated Anita who made the KitchenAid winning Thai Fishcakes! This is one time I wish I had started eating before taking photographs, thanks for providing the recipe on your blog!

Would we ever wake up from this fantastic dream? Would the rivers of chocolate, cream and salted caramel ever run dry? No, laughed the Hatter madly as the donkey spilled its guts, the world started spinning like a loaf of Sm-earth Bread, you will NEVER leave! You are trapped here forever, eating, eating, eating...

And thus, the World spun on ending, not with a whimper but a burp.

Sm-earth No Knead Bread recipe coming up shortly.

And many thanks to Sarah of Nuffnang for providing the prize for most "Blue Food"
to the Sm-earth bread!

The genuine Gorillapod is just gorgeous and I've had my eye on one for ages!

  11. Even I had to struggle to eat the blue bread but if you closed your eyes, it tasted no different (I still wouldn't eat an entire loaf but as an experiment, we survived!). I'm loving the Tarsier-Pod - expect to share it around - but don't forget, the prize included a camera bag as well (not pictured) so even better! :D
